Robert J. Suprenant, CPA, MST
Director of Special Tax Services
Bob is the firm’s Director of Special Tax Services. His numerous years of experience working with high net worth taxpayers and closely held businesses provides Bob the unique skills necessary to identify and implement sophisticated tax planning. This planning may be implemented in connection with overall life planning, as a result of a life event, sale or purchase of a business or major investment, equity event, estate planning, etc. Tax planning is most successful when we fully understand client goals, which generally goes beyond tax deferral or mitigation. Bob works closely with clients to review plans which may be implemented to meet those goals.
An examination by a taxing authority can create much anxiety for the taxpayer. Bob has successfully represented many clients at both the federal and state level. He will coordinate and represent taxpayers during the examination, respond to notices and requests, defend tax positions, research relevant tax court cases and other actions necessary to achieve a positive outcome.
Bob is also involved with our tax-exempt organization clients. He is responsible for reviewing the Massachusetts Uniform Financial Report for such organizations as well as consulting on expense allocations and other business matters.
With over thirty years of experience and knowledge, Bob is heavily involved with training our staff and is able to assist the staff in understanding the basic tax concepts when they first begin their careers, as well as provide guidance to more experienced managers with complex transactions. He is a frequent guest speaker at the Western New England University Tax Institute and provides tax commentary for WGGB-TV ABC-40. This experience also provides Bob the ability to speak with clients at a level they understand.
Bob holds a M.S. in Taxation from the University of Hartford and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Massachusetts. Bob is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA).
Bob is active in the community. He serves on the board of directors of the Jericho House in Holyoke and assists in running the Northampton Youth Soccer Association.
